AIC CONGRESS - Geneva | Switzerland - 2022

The theme of the Geneva 2022 Congress “Melting Pot. From Alchemical Crucible to Cultural Crucible” draws on the international dimension of Geneva, a city where 184 different nationalities mingle and which hosts international organizations such as the UN, ILO, WHO, WTO, Red Cross, WIPO. This theme is also linked to AIC’s official partnership with UNESCO as a non-governmental organization, thus emphasizing the universality of working with clays, in its diversity.

Through the transfer of know-how, migrations and multiculturalism, clay brings people together and breaks down borders. Footprints in the sand, bundles, döner kebabs, chrysalises, funeral boats or porcelain huts: the exhibition of IAC members immerses us into the heart of unusual journeys, life trajectories and intercultural exchanges.

Within the framework of the 50th IAC Congress, two virtual members’ exhibitions were set up: the “Members’ Best” exhibition.

Exposição coletiva no Guozhong Ceramic Art Museum in Beijing, China

The New Members’ Exhibition is being held from November 7 to December 12, 2020 at the Beijing Guozhong Ceramic Art Museum in China. The works of 144 artists are on display virtually, whilst those of 62 artists are present in the in situ exhibition and its 3D version. On the occasion of the inauguration on November 7, an international online seminar was organised.

Resumo: Este artigo se configura como um diálogo com algumas obras de Adel Souki, em seu estado de permanente experimentação, pesquisa e trocas, percorrendo algumas pistas que se escancaram em fluxos de criação/produção artística, mediados pelo barro e pelo fogo. É um exercício de reflexão a partir do re-conhecimento de que na arte não há sinais de apaziguamento, há inquietações que se transfiguram poética e esteticamente, se impondo como processos de enfrentamento, como ‘parte de um ritual para compreender a vida’.

Abstract: Adel Souki: contaminations between clay and fire | This article is configured as a dialogue with some of the works by Adel Souki, in her permanent state of experimentation, research and exchanges, traversing some clues that have spread in artistic creation / production flows, mediated by clay and fire. It is an exercise of reflection from the re-understanding that in art there are no signs of appeasement, but inquietudes that are transfigured poetically and aesthetically, imposing themselves as coping processes, as ‘part of a ritual to understand life’.

Congresso de Cerâmica AIC | Barcelona setembro 2016

The 47th Congress of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC), will be held in Barcelona, September 12-16, 2016. It is conceived as a meeting place for discussion and study for about 300 participants from around the world, and will be complemented by visits to iconic ceramic heritage locations of the city and Catalonia, as well as cultural and entertainment events coinciding with the celebration of the General Assembly of the Academy.
